Environmental control units (ECU) for auto dealerships are more important than they would initially seem. Making sales is difficult. It is about appealing to the need inside the customer and to making them comfortable enough to make a decision. Auto dealerships in particular have a difficult task ahead of them. Cars are a massive investment in terms of time and resources, both current and future. Getting someone to put down money on that, especially if they’re still on the fence about it, is extremely difficult.

Salesmen need every little advantage they can. This is why environmental control units for auto dealerships are extremely important. Similar to portable air conditioning units, they can be moved when and where they are needed with little thought to electric plugs and exhaust fans. Auto dealership personnel need to make the customer comfortable with more than their words and their demeanor; they need to make the customer comfortable physically as well. Customer service is all about taking care of the client. Putting them into an environment where they are comfortable is part of that.


Showrooms for example, have their climate carefully controlled. They make sure that no matter how bad the heat wave is outside that the customer is comfortable inside, where the sale can be made. Should the a/c stop working, an ECU is brought into the showroom to combat the heat while business deals are made. The more customers want to stay in the area, the greater the chance that they will buy a vehicle. It goes both ways. In colder areas, ECUs can make sure that it is nice and toasty inside where needed, making it appealing to stay.

Controlling the environment is also useful for the outside salesroom. Garage bays and tent sales are two other places that require ECUs, especially during special events. Tent sales in particular are often at the whim of the current weather and a little environmental control would go a long way towards making it easier to sell cars and trucks. While the outdoors is a great place to inspire people to buy, it can be extremely uncomfortable. Outdoor events are extremely vulnerable to disruption from the elements, such as rain or a savage heat wave.


Fortunately, humanity has triumphed against nature in the form of technology that can make enclosed areas colder or warmer, as needed. Extreme heat or extreme cold can be extremely distracting, for both salesmen and would-be customers. Heat can make people sweat and make them generally uncomfortable and far less interested in making a sale and more interested in finding the closest place that has air conditioning. Too cold, and it can make people sleepy and want to go home.

The correct kind of environment can make customers extremely conducive to sales attempts, which means that the right kind of environmental control units and portable air conditioners can actually increase the profit margin of an auto dealership.
